The Loop Electrical Excision Procedure (LEEP) is used in the treatment of precancerous or early cancers of the cervix.

The LEEP has largely replaced conization of the cervix as it can be done in the doctor’s office under local anesthesia.

Typically, LEEP patients resume full activity after the procedure.
