Colposcopy is a close-up view of the cervix done with a microscope. This allows the doctor to evaluate small changes in the cervix, from benign irritations or infections to early cervical cancers.

Colposcopy is recommended for any woman with a newly abnormal Pap, or with diagnosed cervical disease.
